History and Development

St. Francis Xavier’s Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Kunnapuzha in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum belongs to the Ecclesiastical district of Trivandrum.  The first community of this parish was formed in 1935 by the mission work of the Franciscan Brothers.   This Parish was established in 1939 by the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios. The new church was built during the year 2008-2011.  It was blessed by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis on 5-3-2011. On 13^th October 2016 the Presbytery was blessed by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis. It celebrated the Sacerdotal Golden Jubilee of Rev. Fr. P.T. George. The church was honoured by dedicating a Primary Relic of St. Francis Xavier on 3^rd December 2015. Renovated by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis.
