church event

The 65th feast of Commemoration of Servant of God Mar Ivanios was held at St. Mary’s Cathedral at Pattom from July 1 to 15. On the concluding day (July 14, 2018) the holy ceremonies were led by His Beatitude Baselios Cardinal Cleemis with the other bishops of the Malankara Catholic Church as the concelebrants. His Eminence Rainer Cardinal Maria Woelki, the Archbishop of the Diocese of Cologne in Germany, was the chief guest on the day. His Eminence had taken part in the candle procession on the eve of the Mar Ivanios Day. His Eminence was accorded a warm reception at the Cathedral gate and garlanded by Baselios Cardinal Cleemis. Hundreds of people lined up along the sides of the road leading to the tomb of Archbishop Mar Ivanios to receive the cardinal. The Cardinal entered the chapel at the tomb of Mar Ivanios for the prayer. The priests in holy vestments moved to the Cathedral in procession and at the back stood His Beatitude, Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki and other bishops. After the procession the prayer of the third hour was recited and the Holy Mass followed with His Beatitude Baselios Cardinal Cleemis being the main celebrant. In the benedictory address during the Holy Mass His Eminence shared the beautiful memories of relationship between the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum and the Diocese of Cologne. He said Mar Ivanios had not lived for himself but for the Church. Cardinal Rainer was presented with a sleebo as a token of love and gratitude of Malankara Catholic Church. The concelebrants in the holy mass were Archbishop Thomas Mar Koorilos, Bishop Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom, Bishop Joshua Mar Ignathios, Bishop Joseph Mar Thomas, Bishop Abraham Mar Julios, Bishop Vincent Mar Paulose, Bishop Jacob Mar Bernabas, Bishop Thomas Mar Eusebios, Bishop Thomas Mar Anthonios, Bishop Samuel Mar Irenios, and the clergy of the Malankara Catholic Church.
