His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Aprem II, Patriarch of the Syrian Orthodox Church of Antioch visited the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church on 11 February 2024. His Beatitude Baselios Cardinal Cleemis, Major Archbishop-Catholicos of the Malankara Syrian Catholic Church received His Holiness at the St. Mary’s Major Archieparchial Cathedral, Pattom, Trivandrum. All the Bishops, Priests, Religious and Laity were present during the occasion. His Holiness the Patriarch led the Basmalko and Sadeeko at the Sanctuary of the Cathedral and prayed. During the felicitation His Grace Archbishop Thomas Mar Koorilos, the Secretary of the Holy Episcopal Synod welcomed His Holiness and the gathering. His Beatitude felicitated His Holiness and presented His Holiness the Patriarch a Sleeba specially designed for him. Patriarch II thanked the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church and His Beatitude Cardinal Baselios Cleemis Catholicos for the cordial reception and the fraternal relationship with his Church. His Holiness presented a Lenten Pectoral Cross to His Beatitude. All the Bishops of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church and 16 Bishops from the Malankara Jacobite Syriac Church and hundreds of priests, religious and lay faithful participated in the function. His Holiness the Patriarch visited the Tomb Chapel and offered Dhoopa Prardhana at the Tomb for the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios and other Prelates. His Beatitude hosted a dinner in honour of His Holiness the Patriarch at Girideepam Convention Centre, Mar Ivanios Vidya Nagar, Nalanchira, Trivandrum. Chief Minister of Kerala Shri Pinarayi Vijayan, Central Minister Sri V. Muraleedharan, Ministers, MPs, MLAs, IAS, IPS, IFS Officers, Bishops and Religious of various Churches, Hindu, Muslim Leaders, Leaders of Political, Social and cultural arenas attended the function.
