St. John's hospital is owned and managed by St. John's Health Services of the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum. This hospital started functioning 1963 by His Grace Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios of happy memory. The hospital effectively utilizes the combined resources received from religious organization and the Government to provide the best possible care for the afflicted in a compassionate atmosphere.

In November 2011, this hospital was renovated and renamed as St. John's Community hospital in the Malankara Medical Village, Pirappencode by His Beatitude Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos.
