History and Development

St.Mary’s Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Anchal in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum belongs to the Ecclesiastical district of Anchal. The First community of this Parish was formed in 1934. This Parish was established in 1934 and Blessed by the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios. Rt.Rev.Fr Alexander Valiyaveettil Cor Episcopo was the First Vicar. A new church was built under the leadership of Rev.Fr.George Malancharuvil and Fr John Kannakara in 1979. A new grotto was built in 1983 infront of parish and another Grotto was built at Kuruvikkonam in 1999.The church was renovated with a balcony and porch in 2004.
