History and Development

St. Joseph’s Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Parottukonam in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum belongs to the Ecclesiastical district of Trivandrum.  The first community of this parish was formed in 1960 by the mission work of Rt. Rev. Thomas Kumpukattu Cor-Episcopa and the Franciscan Brothers.This Parish was established in 1970 and it was blessed by Late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios. Most Rev. Joseph Mar Thomas was the first vicar. The foundation stone of the new church was blessed and laid by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos on 6th October 2019.
