History and Development

 St. George Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Chempanaruvi in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum belongs to the Ecclesiastical district of Punalur..  The first community of this parish was formed in 1961. This Parish was established and blessed by Late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios in 1961.  The church was renovated and blessed by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis in 2013. The first vicar was Rev. Fr. Kurian Elanjikkal.
