History and Development

St. Mary’s Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Pattazhy in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum belongs to the Ecclesiastical district of Kottarakkara. The first community of this parish was formed in 1945 by the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios. This Parish was established in 1959 and was blessed by Late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios. The first vicar was Rev. Fr. Thomas Kaithanal. The church was renovated in 1985 and Late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios. The new church was built in 2007 and blessed by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis on 31^st August 2007.
