History and Development

                       

St. Mary’s Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Manjakala in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum belongs to the Ecclesiastical district of Kottarakkara.The first community of this parish was formed in 1946 by the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios by the mission work Rev. Fr. Joseph Thachettu. This Parish was rebuilt and was blessed by Late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios.  Again the church was rebuilt by Rev. Fr. Samuel Kunnumpurathu in 2013 and blessed by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis.  A presbytery was built in 2019 and blessed by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis.
