Snehapurvam Oru Veedu (Home for the Homeless) 1632 houses already buit project continues
That they may be happily together
To turn a blind eye towards one of the most important necessities of a human being is synonymous with despising God. His Beatitude Baselios Cardinal Cleemis conceived the idea of transforming the lives of people making them happy with the thought that they own a house. Though he knew well that such a venture would make him meet daunting challenges, unflinching was he in journey along with the poor. Wherever he went and whomever he spoke, His Beatitude would speak volumes about the existence of the Church in the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ and its unfailing orientation towards the poor of the Lord. Thus in 2013 50 houses have been provided to families of Hindu and Muslim communities.
In a survey conducted till 29th February 2011, it was identified that there are 2015 families in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum without proper house. Among them 811 are homeless families and 1204 have houses not fit for dwelling. This project is envisaged to assist the poor homeless to have a house fit for their habitation. In order to complete this project all persons, families, parishes and institutions and well-wishers have whole-heartedly co-operated by donating their possible financial assistance.
So far we have extended help to 1632 poor families and they have completed construction of their houses in the first and second phases till November 2018. There are more than 600 deserving families approached us and waiting to get financial support for the construction of houses in the next phase.
